Two Charged Regarding Heathrow Alleged Pepper Spray Attack
Two men have been charged following a suitcase robbery where a substance thought to be irritant spray caused injuries at London's Heathrow Airport.
Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, now face two robbery charges and two counts of using a harmful chemical, according to official statements.
The charges follow an probe of an assault at the parking structure at Heathrow's Terminal Three on Sunday. Before the assault occurred, two women were robbed of their suitcases taken after getting out of a parking garage elevator, according to law enforcement.
A toddler was among those injured in the event. Five people required hospital care and were later discharged.
The incident – described by police as was not part of a series and not being treated as terrorism – led to train delays and the temporary blocking of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a brief period.
