Plane Carrying US Defense Secretary Forced to Touch Down in UK Because of Fracture in Windshield

A plane transporting the US defense secretary was forced to make an unscheduled landing in the UK on Wednesday following a fracture was found in the aircraft's cockpit window, according to an official statement which stated that the secretary was unharmed.

"The jet landed in accordance with standard procedures and all individuals on the flight, such as Defense Secretary Hegseth, is secure," an official representative said in a social media post.

The secretary was coming back from a short visit to the city of Brussels at the time.

This incident isn't the first occasion that a US military aircraft carrying a top government figure has experienced equipment failures.

Earlier this year, a American military jet carrying the US Secretary of State to the city in Germany was compelled to turn back to Washington DC after suffering a mechanical problem.
