Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete
The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night stating they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the NFL.
The team did not mention Rice specifically in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.
Allegations Shared on Social Media
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, shared a series of photos on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.
Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable
No official complaints were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.
Player's Recent Legal Issues
The receiver missed the initial part of this season following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals injured. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.
On the field, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
