Rob Edwards and Gary O'Neil are two of the initial names under consideration to succeed the former manager as manager of Wolves.
Pereira was dismissed on the weekend after the squad's 10-match without a victory start to the Premier League campaign.
And both candidates - both of who have previous associations to the club - are part of the names to be evaluated by the Wolves leadership.
The manager is presently at another club, which would create a potential obstacle to his appointment at Molineux.
However the former Luton head coach - who played more than 100 of games for Wolves during his time as a player - is considered a leading candidate for the position.
The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys support from the Wolves board as they begin the search of appointing a fresh manager.
Gary O'Neil is also emerging as a surprise candidate, although he would be a surprising choice given he was released by Wolves in the previous winter.
The ex- West Ham United player is currently unemployed meaning the club would not need to pay any compensation.
